Knowing that my girl enjoys shopping and that it's part and parcel of a life of a women, we flew off to Bangkok as a shopping trip planned for her.

Hearing how nice the Baiyoke hotels were, we decided to stay a few nights in Baiyoke Boutique Hotel before upgrading ourselves to the Baiyoke Sky to help save on budget.

The Lobby

The Interior of the Room

While the room looked pretty chic as well, just like the hotel’s lobby, the only negative thing was that the toilet was at the back of the room, unlike most hotel rooms, where the toilet is nearer to the front of the room. We even encountered difficulties with the temperate controls of the shower spray.

The streets of Bangkok are made in such a way that it was pretty crammed, and there were just too many people walking around. What made it worse was that there were those mobile food stalls, that parked in the middle of the street. And with quite a lot of people doing wholesale, many a times you had to make way for their extremely huge wholesale bags/trolleys while trying to squeeze into whatever remaining space available. Being the guy, I felt that I should paved the path and protect the girl as the streets are so crammed that people can get a little "touchy" or close to one another.

Our first shopping stop was the well-known Platinum Mall.

I must say the Platinum Mall is the girl's favorite. They had 6 levels of shops, and had everything that you can imagine. From tops, tees, jeans, dresses, to lingerie, costumes, shoes, accessories and many more! The girl just went crazy shopping there!! =) We were so busy walking through the maze and at the end of the day, we were dead beat. It was just the first day!

Having combed through Platinum Mall, we went on to explore the other shopping malls like Central World, Siam Paragon, Siam Square , MBK Mall etc.

The girl claims she poses better than me. But hey, it's because I zoomed in while taking the picture for her but she didn't!! =P

Everybody knows how bad the streets of Bangkok are. But hey, take a look at their taxis. It's so colourful! Pink taxis!! Actually, Bangkok had lots of really bright coloured taxis. A really different sight from the usual white, black and blue taxis that you see in Singapore. Not only that, their driving skills are actually quite good, that is, they just have fast reflexes. If any Singaporeans were to drive in Bangkok, I guess one can say that chances of getting into an accident is quite high because of the way drivers cut lanes.

After a whole day of walking and shopping, we finally decided to settle for dinner to end the day. With recommendations from my colleague that MK had good food, we settled for the famous MK steamboat!!

The restaurant is of steamboat style, where you can choose quite a variety of food. They even have packages for 2-3 people, just that you have some difficulty understanding some parts of the menu as they are only in Thai. Other than that, the food was not bad, but the soup was really good! It was really a hearty meal. So, do give it a try when you are there!
